When should you replace your car battery in the UAE?

Batteries often fail with little warning in UAE heat. Here are the signs to watch for.

Published

Car batteries usually last noticeably less in hot climates than in cooler countries. In the UAE, heat under the bonnet speeds up internal wear, so it is common for a battery to fail suddenly, often on a hot morning after the car has sat in the sun.

Warning signs

  • The engine cranks slowly, especially first thing in the morning
  • Clicking sound when you try to start
  • Dim headlights at idle
  • Battery or charging warning light
  • Swollen battery case or corrosion on terminals
  • The battery is several years old and has never been tested

Test before you replace

A slow start isn’t always the battery. A weak alternator or a hidden electrical drain can kill a new battery too. A quick battery and charging test tells you which one is at fault. Our car electrical repair team does this before recommending a replacement.

Make your battery last longer

Park in shade where you can, keep terminals clean and tight, and avoid leaving accessories on with the engine off. If the car sits unused for long periods, drive it regularly or use a battery maintainer. A battery test is a good habit at every service, especially before summer.
