Common car electrical problems in the UAE

Heat is hard on car electrics. These are the faults we see most and what usually causes them.

Published

Modern cars depend on electrics for almost everything. Add UAE summer heat, and some faults become very common. Here are the ones drivers in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain run into most.

1. Battery dies or car is slow to start

Heat speeds up chemical wear inside the battery. A battery can test fine one week and fail the next. A slow crank is the usual early sign. See when to replace your car battery.

2. Charging problems

If the battery light comes on while driving or lights dim at idle, the alternator may not be charging properly. Replacing the battery alone won’t fix this.

3. Battery drains overnight

A module, light or aftermarket accessory that stays awake after locking can drain a healthy battery. A drain test finds the circuit responsible.

4. Power windows and locks stop working

Usually a switch, motor, regulator or broken wire in the door hinge area, which flexes every time the door opens.

5. Warning lights

Sensors work in a hot environment and connectors can corrode or loosen. Computer diagnostics point to the system involved; testing finds the exact part.
